The Economic Development Department will be working on the Métis Settlements Economic Development Implementation Strategy by implementing and monitoring the related contribution agreements between Alberta Employment and Immigration (AEI) and the Métis Settlements General Council (MSGC), at present this involves three contribution agreements and as well a 3 year agreement with the Federal Government (INAC) to create capacity for the manager for the Economic Development Arm.
- Economic Development Arm: Myers Norris Penny (NMP) contract for the corporate structure and development of an Economic Development Arm which would seek out new and diverse Economic opportunities through AEI
- Video Conferencing Initiative: Installation of 9 video conferencing units with the Métis Settlements General Council capacity initiative, through AEI
- Two Economic Development Coordinators that may market the Eastern and Western Settlements and help to identify local opportunities, through AEI
- Economic Development Manager of the Economic Development Corporate Arm Initiative through INAC.
Under the Tripartite Work Plan Economic Development is defined as one of the priority areas. The Economic Development Department will be working with MNP, and the Economic Development Steering Committee, Economic Development Sub Committee, Tripartite and all Stakeholders to fully implement the Economic Development Implementation Strategy
